From top model to accomplished painter, Anh Duong has had a long and exciting career. For the French born Spanish-Vietnamese painter, everything began in New York City in the 80’s, after working as a top model for John Galliano and Christian Lacroix, she was introduced to the world of fine art. It is while dating artist and filmmaker Julian Schnabel, staying in Andy Warhol’s house in the Hamptons that she first started the craft of painting.
Not being able to have a model to paint, she directly started painting herself, developing a very particular style of self-portraits that quickly became her own signature. From balancing a self-conscious need to explore her subconscious feelings through self-portrait painting on a personal level to a large recognition from top influential celebrities that have purchased her work over the years, Anh Duong is now definitely a high profile painter that everyone should be on the lookout for when searching for meaningful paintings in today’s ever crowded art world.
