Adam Yauch, known as MCA, founding member of the legendary American hip hop band, the Beastie Boys has passed away today, May 4, at the age of 47.

The Beastie Boys formed with Mike D, Ad-Rock, and MCA in 1979 in New York. With four albums reaching the top of the Billboard album charts, being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and winning a number of Grammys, the Beastie Boys have been one of the longest lived successful hip hop bands worldwide.
